FARC rebels attacked 20 kilometers east of the capital, losing three dead. At least 17 others have died in the last two days. FARC is also attacking bridges, power and communications towers. Warplanes have hit 80 rebel targets. American recon aircraft and spy satellites are being used to locate rebel units and facilities. Army troops continue to move into the former rebel demilitarized zone. It's expected to take six months to clear out all the rebels in the zone. The initial army attacks are on the four major towns in the region. One fear is that the air and ground attacks will harm some of the hundreds of kidnapping victims being held in the zone. FARC has collected at least $325 million in ransoms over the last 19 months.
