Colombia: March 8, 2002

While FARC is back at war with the army, the smaller ELN is still talking peace terms. The fighting, since negotiations with FARC broke down on February 20th, has left 144 dead (48 soldiers, 87 FARC and nine AUC). ELN rebels have been fighting as well, usually against AUC. The Maoist EPL (with only about 200 members) has also joined in the chaotic combat.
