It was revealed that the ELN, the second largest leftist rebel group in Colombia, has been secretly  negotiating with the government in order to see if they could undertake formal negotiations for a peace deal. 

Peru and Colombia signed an agreement to cooperate in wiping out a FARC unit that was extorting payments from ships moving along the Putumayo river, which forms part of the border between the two countries. 

The 14 year old son of a small businessman was kidnapped from a school bus in a town near the Venezuelan border.
