The new government policy of aggressively patrolling highways and having troops standing by to go after rebel kidnappers, has paid off. Today ELN rebels set up an early morning roadblock in the north and soon had taken 22 civilians hostage. But the army found out and before the end of the day had hunted down the rebels and, after a brief gun battle, freed the 22 kidnapping victims.
