Colombia: February 24, 2003


The US government warned Americans against traveling in Colombia. In the last three years, some 26 Americans have been kidnapped by leftist rebels or criminal gangs. The victims have included journalists, missionaries, 
scientists, human rights workers, American government employees and employees of US businesses.  FARC is also holding 24 Colombian politicians, 47 army officers and 800 others.
