ELN rebels murdered a woman they had kidnapped in the northwest two days earlier. Instead of asking for ransom, the rebels demanded that her father kill a local AUC leader. The leftist rebels have, in the past, used this technique, especially when seeking people to carry out a suicide bombing attack. This particular incident has horrified the population. The 31 year old victim was a school teacher and not involved in politics.
