After  a hundred and one days of captivity, ELN released five one British and four Israeli hikers they had been holding captive. Catholic Church officials negotiated the release. The ELN was taking a lot of heat from its leftist supporters in Europe for this kidnapping. The ELN is an image conscious organization, which played a large part in getting the captives released.
