Indian security forces killed two top Islamic militants during gun battles in the province of Kashmir. Adnan Qureshi, a Pakistani citizen and local commander of the Pakistan-based group Lashkar-e-Taiba was one of the two militants killed. This clash further highlights the possibility that the projected US conflict with Afghanistan could cause tensions between Pakistan and India to intensify.
