Pakistani police, assisted by the American FBI and CIA, tracked down and arrested three al Qaeda leaders near the capital. chief planner Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and paymaster Mustafa Ahmed al-Hawsawi. Khalid Sheikh Mohammed was handed over to the US. So far, Pakistan has arrested and turned over to the US some 430 al Qaeda suspects.
