Indian police discovered and removed a sack of six bombs found in the main railway station in the capital. 

In Kashmir, rebels attacked a hotel, kidnapping nine civilians, while also killing six and wounding 15.  In other incidents, seven rebels, three civilians and three policemen were killed.

Indian and Pakistani artillery exchanged fire along the Line of Control, leaving four Indian soldiers dead.

In Pakistan, violence between Sunni and Shia religious extremists continued, as a two children were killed as Sunni extremists sought to halt a Shia religious ceremony.
