In northeast India, Dimasa and Hmar tribesmen continue to fight over territorial disputes. At least six died today, and over fifty have died in sporadic fighting during the last two months. Police and army troops have tried to stop the fighting, without much success. Local rebels have joined in as well.

In Karachi, Pakistan, suspected terrorists killed a senior politician in the ruling party. Islamic radicals have threatened such attacks. In another part of town, a bomb went off outside a Western fast food outlet. Such foreign businesses are also condemned by Islamic radicals.
