The third anniversary of the September 11 attacks finds al Qaeda slipping in popularity throughout Pakistan. The war in Iraq has stolen much of bin Laden's media attention, and Pakistanis have noted that bin Laden knows how to hide, but has been unable to accomplish much else. This fall in popularity provides more opportunities to get people close to bin Laden to report on his whereabouts. Being a celebrity on the way down can be fatal for a terror chieftain on the run.
