India-Pakistan: May 27, 2005


 In Pakistan, terrorists bombed a Shia religious festival, killing 17 people and wounding many more. Sunni radicals were suspected, as many Sunni Moslem groups in Pakistan consider Shia Moslems to be heretics and blasphemers. 

In India, Maoist gangs continue to terrorize the countryside in areas like Andhra Pradesh, where Maoists murdered a policeman today. The government is reluctant to go after the Maoists too energetically, because the current government is a leftist coalition.
