A car bomb went off in Indian controlled Kashmir, killing 17 and wounding over a hundred. The Islamic radicals that carry out most of the terrorist violence in Kashmir, are upset with the peace talks between India and Pakistan. Even more annoying are the attempts by more moderate Islamic groups in Kashmir to get the Islamic radicals to agree to a peaceful settlement. The Indian army, because of tighter border control, more tips from Kashmiri Moslems, and more effective counter-terror tactics, believes that the Islamic terrorists in Kashmir are being reduced month by month, and will be much smaller in a year. Currently, several dozen people are killed or wounded each week because of the terrorist violence.
