Rioting continued in Ambon, with some 30 residents of the city killed so far, and hundreds injured. So far this year, some 300 people have been killed in Maluku province, where Ambon is located. The cause has been conflicts between Christians and Muslims. About a dozen have been killed in ethnic conflicts on the island of Batam (just south of Singapore.)
