Indonesia: March 24, 2002

A recent survey of expatriates, and their families, living in the region had these people rate the nations they were in for quality of life. This included personal security. The results were interesting, and not very flattering, for Indonesia. With zero equaling a perfect score, the results were; Singapore 2.26,
Thailand 3.45, China 3.76, Malaysia 3.84, Taiwan 3.98,  Hong Kong 4.04, South Korea 4.09, Japan 4.14, the Philippines 4.84, Vietnam 5.42, India at 5.68, Indonesia 6.59. In Aceh, rebels claim to have killed 18 soldiers over the last three days. The army denies this and says it has killed five rebels.
