Indonesia: February 3, 2003


Police arrested a Jemaah Islamiyah leader, Mas Selamat. The man was the head of operations in Singapore and he may be turned over to Singapore for prosecution.  Mas Selamat was said to be plotting aircraft hijackings, and flying the aircraft into large buildings. 

Indonesian police have been increasingly effective in rounding up members of  Jemaah Islamiyah.

A small bomb went off at national police headquarters. There were no injuries.
