The government has accused Abu Bakar Bashir, a 64-year old cleric, of conspiring "to set up an Islamic State of Indonesia and overthrow
the government of the Republic of Indonesia."Abu Bakar Bashir is the suspected spiritual head of Jemaah Islamiyah, a group affiliated with al Qaeda and accused of much terrorist activity in southeast Asia.
