In Aceh, it appears that the main rebel organization, GAM, has used the ceasefire and peace talks as cover for recruiting and building up their fighting forces. This appears to be a prelude for reviving the fighting and obtaining independence. The peace talks proceeded on the basis of only getting some autonomy.
