U.S. warplanes bombed Iraqi communications facilities near Mosul in retaliation for Iraqi air defense units firing on them. Three air defense sites in southern Iraq were also bombed. Kurds in northern Iraq have publicly suggested that the Turkish based Kurdish Workers Party troops leave northern Iraq.
