Farouk Hijazi, one of Saddam's senior intelligence officials, was captured. The CIA is particularly interested in speaking with Hijazi, as he is thought to have gone to Afghanistan in 1998 and established a relationship between Osama Bin Laden and Iraq. 

Another 5,000 U.S. troops, stationed in Germany, have been sent to Iraq.
