Israel: October 8, 2000

Hamas says it is talking to Hezbollah about starting a terror campaign against Israel. Because of the Arab Israelis joining in the rock throwing against Israeli troops, Jewish and Arab mobs are now fighting it out. Many Israelis live in or near Arab Israeli neighborhoods, unlike the Palestinians, who are the overwhelming majority in most of their neighborhoods. This could make anti-terror operations more difficult as this violence makes it easier for terrorists to recruit among Israeli Arabs. Israeli jets flew over the capital of Lebanon, breaking the sound barrier and causing panic below.  On the Israeli border, mortar shells were fired into the Israeli held (and disputed) Shebaa farms area.
