ECOWAS force commander General Fall proposed increasing the size of the regional military mission in the Ivory Coast from 1,264 to 3,411. This will enable ECOWAS to cope with the additional responsibilities imposed by the Marcoussis accord and the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1464.
The day before, French troops handed over a frontier military post to West African ECOWAS peace keepers. The ECOWAS force has troops soldiers from Benin, Niger, Ghana, Senegal and Togo. - Adam Geibel
