Using photos from a private recon satellite, North Koreas long range missile launch facility was shown to be quite primitive. While the base obviously launched several missiles, the facilities do not appear capable of supporting a lot of launches in a short period, or advancing North Korean capabilities rapidly.

January 6; 2000; US intelligence sources assert that China continued to ship missile technology to North Korea despite their promises not to.

January 5; 2000;  As a condition of restoring diplomatic relations with Japan, North Korea is demanding compensation for Japans activities in North Korea during World War II.
