Losing patience with its loopy northern cousins, South Korea demanded that North Korea keep it's word to resume economic negotiations next week (intended to work out how to give the North more aid). The North withdrew when they heard of a US newspaper quoting the South Korean foreign minister Choi saying, "sometimes carrying a big stick works in forcing North Korea to come forward." North Korea called Choi and traitor and demanded he resign. The South is losing its patience over this sort of behavior by the north, which is usually followed by an extortion attempt.
