Next month, South Korea will begin sending 15,000 kilowatts of electricity across the DMZ to an industrial park in North Korea. The 23 acre site is set aside for South Korean companies who are operating in North Korea using North Korean workers. Eventually, the site is to expand to over 15,000 acres. South Korea believes efforts like this will defuse the hostile relationship between the north and the south by improving the economy up there, and giving the Communist leadership something to lose if they attacked the south.
