Kurdish War: July 2, 2003

: The Turkish government, responding to criticism from Kurd political groups, says it estimates that at least 2,000 PKK rebels can receive "outright pardon" under the government's proposed amnesty offer. A subsequent report said that a number of "former PKK" rebels had applied or said they would apply for the amnesty. No figure was given and the report suggested the comments were anecdotal.
