The government announced that over a year of operations against Abu Sayyaf has reduced the strength of the rebel organization from 1,200 to 242. The army plans to keep the pressure on until all the senior leaders of Abu Sayyaf are captured, and seizing whatever is left of the millions of dollars of ransom money the rebels have obtained over the past few years.
