US troops provided intelligence and communications support for Filipino troops who conducted the ambush at sea that killed three Abu Sayyaf and captured four others. One of the dead was Abu Sayyaf leader Abu Sabaya, who fell overboard when shot and whose body has not been found yet. Abu Sabaya was the most often heard spokesman for Abu Sayyaf.
