Celebrating it's 70th anniversary, Russian airborne forces are to be increased from 40,000 troops to 45,000 by next year. Some two million troops have served in the airborne forces since 1930 and they have always been among the more dependable combat troops in the Russian military. Some 4100 paratroopers are serving in Chechnya.
