Russia has confirmed that the Udaloy-class destroyer Admiral Panteleyev accidentally fired a 100mm shell into a Pacific coastal town in the Khasansk region on 14 September. The local media said that civilians had been killed by the shell, but the Navy said this report was false. --Stephen V Cole
