Two Chechens seized a bus, and its thirty passengers, in southern Russia. The Chechens demanded the release of five Chechens jailed for an earlier hijacking. Late in the day, Russian commandoes surrounded the bus, stormed it, releasing the hostages. One of the Chechens was killed in the process.
