Chechen rebels say they have patched up their differences and resolved to fight on. It is estimated that there are several thousand rebel fighters, in Chechnya and neighboring areas. But the government previously said that only a few hundred active rebels remained in Chechnya. Currently, most of the fighting is in the form of bomb attacks on Chechen officials working for the Russians, and Chechen civilians who refuse to cooperate with the rebels.
