Crime and suicide are on the rise in the military, although in the past year most of the increase was attributed to merging of the Railway Troops and the Special Construction units into the armed forces. More thorough investigations of suicides revealed that half were caused by problems with wives (about 15 percent of the suicides are career officers or NCOs) or girlfriends.
