In Kabardino-Balkariya, a Caucasus area near Chechnya, police killed four suspected terrorists. One policeman was killed in the shootout, during which the suspects van blew up. Apparently the suspects were carrying explosives. In neighboring Ingushetia, police, acting on a tip, raided a terrorist hideout and found a bomb making operation, including nearly a hundred pounds of explosives.
