Russia: July 22, 2005


  Russia has ratified a treaty with Kyrgyzstan, which gives Russia the use of an old Soviet airbase, at Kant, for fifteen years. Currently, Russia has Su-27 and Su-25 warplanes, plus some  military transports and helicopters stationed there, along with some 500 Russian troops. At the same time Russia and China have united to oppose any long term American bases in Central Asia.
