Uganda: January 17, 2000

To and fro. On January 14, LRA rebels captured 30 Ugandans on the same day Sudan's Khartoum government released 58 Ugandan prisoners. Meanwhile, the Ugandan military continues to fight a war on two fronts. On January 15, a Ugandan spokesman said several hundred more members of the LRA were positioned to enter Uganda from Sudan. The new group may include LRA leader Joseph Kony. Meanwhile, on January 16, Allied Democratic Force (ADF) rebels in western Uganda killed 10 people in a raid on a refugee camp. On January 17, the ADF killed another two dozen people.
