Uganda: January 3, 2003

Uganda reported two significant LRA attacks. Today, a group of LRA thugs attacked civilians near Acet (Gulu province) and killed six people. The people were attending a dance party in the village. At least eight people were also wounded in the attack. On January 2 the Ugandan Army (UPDF) reported that one of its attack helicopters jumped a column of 50 LRA guerrillas and killed 19 of them. The attack took place near Omia-Nyima (Cwa County, Kitgum District). A ground force then moved in and recovered several rebel weapons.
