The Australian Army has obtained the new Extended Range Fuel System for use with its CH-47 heavy lift helicopters. Each helicopter can carry up to three of the special fuel tanks, each of which has 845 gallons of fuel. This allows the helicopters to not only fly farther, but to serve as a forward refueling post for smaller helicopters.--Stephen V Cole
