Boeing is trying to get permission to export (or at least describe it to potential customers) the active electronically-scanned radar used in the F-18E. Without this key element, export copies of the Super Hornet would have to be fitted with the older APG-73. The US has offered to allow the South Koreans to buy a similar radar for the F-15K and has allowed the UAE to buy a similar radar for its F-16C60s. The Super Hornet's radar is, however, reported to be significantly better and the export situation is tedious.--Stephen V Cole
