The Russian Odyssey floating launch pad was used to successfully launch a Zenit-3SL rocket that put a five ton U.S. telecommunications satellite in orbit. The floating platform is towed to the equator, a position that requires less rocket power to get a satellite into a proper orbit. Four more launches are planned for the Odyssey platform.
