Algerians see America as finally waking up to the full impact of Islamic fundamentalism. During the 1990s, as Algeria fought bloody minded fundamentalists, the US chided the government more than it did the fundamentalists (giving asylum to some fundamentalists who had already been convicted of mass murder in Algeria.) The mood of many Algerians is one of "I told you so."
