The government believes that the primary police problem is now crime, not terrorism. So far this year, criminal activity has resulted in 5,000 serious incidents, and 167 murders. Not bad for a country of 33 million. Police and army operations against the remaining Islamic terrorists is still causing more deaths than crime, but the number of terrorists continues to decline. There are thought to be fewer than two hundred armed Islamic terrorists still on the lose.
