The army continued searching out rebel camps and units. In several clashes, 20 rebels were killed and 57 arrested.

Meanwhile, in Cali, the local drug gang (the Norte del Valle cartel) has fought a civil war over the last six months, leaving about a thousand criminals and civilian bystanders dead. The army and police have taken advantage of this to seize $100 million worth of assets owned by gang leaders. The Norte del Valle cartel took over from the 1990s era Pablo Escobar gang. The Norte del Valle cartel is the last of the drug gangs that is not dominated by a right or left wing rebel group. Most of the drug business in the country is now controlled by political gangs like FARC, AUC and  ELN.
