The FARC rebels have asked the Catholic Church to provide clergy to act as middlemen in negotiations with the government in deals to exchange kidnap victims for jailed rebels. Clergy have been used in the past, because they are trusted by both sides (even though the leftist ELN and FARC rebels are Marxists, and thus, technically, anti-religion.)
