Police arrested 65 (eventually releasing all but 27) Islamic radicals for possessing weapons (short swords and slingshots.) Islamic radicals, while small in number, have been increasingly desperate to have some impact with their demonstrations. Going after the police with lethal weapons is one way of making a bigger splash in the media.
