Although the separatist rebels in Aceh are not Islamic radicals, they are conservative Moslems, and this has led to rumors that many of the Christian aid workers pouring into Aceh are determined to convert disaster victims, particularly orphaned children, to Christianity. This is absurd, but the idea has become popular among anti-Western media and even some rebels inside Aceh.
