The UN announced  donated food is feeding 7.6  million North Koreans (a third of the population.)  Most important is the food relief  for 3.3 million children, who were at risk from severe  malnutrition. This food went to 1,311,500 young children in  nurseries, 630,500 in kindergarteners and 1,352,200 in elementary
school. Some of the food is diverted to the North Korean military and members of the communist ruling class. The north denies this, but there are many eyewitness reports of the practice.
