Politicians in the southwest have called for consideration of a confederation form of government in Nigeria. This would allow for more differences in how the various states govern themselves, and a much weaker central government. Some see this as a prelude to the breakup of Nigeria. Meanwhile, in the northern city of Kaduna, police killed four people overnight while enforcing the curfew.
