The government has warned the MILF to not attempt attacks on US troops on Basilan. In places like Basilan, there is a "live and let live" attitude between the government and the MILF. But the government threatens to get rough if MILF fighters go after American troops. This has been enough to calm down most, but not all, MILF troops. Meanwhile, MILF on Basilan kidnapped five Christian lumberjacks, killing two of them. The motive was apparently extortion.
